There are many reasons I visit Taiwan every year end. The right amount of chill of the winter breeze, contradicting mix of old and new elements in the city, super friendly strangers, and everything's really accessible which makes backpacking and visiting overseas friends light and easy at Taipei.
If you're thinking of getting wholesale prices items at Taipei, head to Wufenpu (MRT: Houshanpi) where you'll be overwhelmed by the season's latest trends and fashion with only half the price we usually see in the market ( A great tip for shop owners!). If you would like to spend your night flipping pages to read and sipping tea, Eslite will be the best place for quiet night owls ( some are open 24 hours).
Some days, you need to pile up your wool coat to hide your arms in the pockets and put on a scarf to keep your neck warm. Some days, you can probably just throw in an oversized sweater with leggings and you're good to go.
One night, we just sat on the wooden floors of a corner of Eslite, took some magazines to pretend that we're perusing them. But in fact, we're chatting our hearts through the winter night.
